French and Belgian regions are cooperating to clear the border!

The program France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen : Belgian and French cross-border territories cooperate in order to wipe off the border !

The European cross-border cooperation program Interreg France-Wallonie-Vlaanderen fits into a willing to promote the economic exchanges between five territories on both sides of the Franco-Belgian border: the regions Hauts-de-France and Grand Est in France; Wallonia, West and East Flanders in Belgium.

It aims to associate shared skills while enhancing the wealth of each concerned territory, and this at the benefit of the population of the whole area.

For the 2014-2020 period, the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) has allocated 170 millions Euros to the program for the purpose of providing support to projects taht meet one of the four areas for cooperation chosen for the period :

  • Research, innovation and transfer of technology
  • Competitiveness of SMEs
  • Territory’s heritage, natural resources and risk management
  • Social cohesion, health and employment

The INTERREG PEPS Project is part of Theme 1 on ``Increasing research and innovation in the cross-border area in strategic sectors and highly complementary sectors``
